Abstract:
The microclimates in the Andean valleys of Oyambaro and Quito in Ecuador can present a wide diversity within a few kilometers apart. For urbanists and architects theclimatic analysis available of Quito Metropolitan District as one city with severalmicroclimates can be of significant importance as the use of space can change within eachadministrative zone. This paper discusses the difference comparing four microclimates, thedata availability, administrative zoning and basic passive measures using a locally developed precipitation based climate stratification.
